Colon Hydrotherapy
|
1. Why do individuals receive Colon Hydrotherapy treatments…how can I benefit?
Individuals receive Colonics for a variety of reasons, such as: improved overall health; relieve constipation, gas and bloating; kick-start a weight loss program; aid in detoxification during a fast; remove toxic waste from their systems; prepare for a medical procedure (e.g. Colonoscopy, per-surgery); etc.
Additionally toxic waste material, that which has remained in the colon for some time (e.g. impacted feces, dead cellular tissue, accumulated mucous, parasites, worms, etc.), accumulates and poses several health problems. It is said the average individual – one who is neither overweight nor with noticeable allergies – may have 10 to 25lbs of dried fecal matter within their colon. A Colon Hydrotherapy session will assist in addressing, treating and eliminating these issues.

2. What is a Colon Hydrotherapist…what should I look for in a professional Colon Hydrotherapist?
Professionalism.. I-ACT has four levels of training, Foundation, Intermediate, Advanced and Instructor Level. Each level has set knowledge skills and hours of training required. Our therapist here a HC Wellness Center is trained at the Instructor Level and is Nationally Board Certified.
In our profession we pride ourselves on being sensitive to others and understanding that this may be something new and you may be unsure of for the first time. The ability to put you at ease and reassure you is a valuable asset.
3. What is covered in the initial consultation, is it required?
Yes. During the consultation your Colon Hydrotherapist will discuss your Medical History, dietary habits, and health goals. They will also give you a tour of the facility and treatment room, and describe the process in detail. At this time you can ask any additional questions, you may have regarding the procedure, to become more at ease with your Colon Hydrotherapist.
The initial consultation fee is waived with the purchase of a pre – paid package.
4. Should I have a treatment right after my initial consultation?
Yes you can, or you can come in and have your consultation separate. We understand, though, that due to the travel distance and schedules of some of our clients this may not be convenient and therefore offer the consultation and session on the same day. We do ask that you monitor what you are eating 24 hours before your session and we will email you some suggestions when you make your appointment. We want you to maximize your sessions by eating right. It's not necessary, and it is totally up to the individual. Although your sessions are more confortable when you adhear to our suggestions the colon hydrotherapy will still work .
5. Is Colon Hydrotherapy safe?
Yes, professionally administered colon hydrotherapy is completely safe. You will be attended to by our Nationally Board Certified Colon Hydrotherapist that utilizes safe FDA approved equipment. Sterilized, pre-packaged disposable tubing and speculum's are used with each treatment to prevent contamination. Additionally, the FDA registered Dotolo Research Corporation equipment is sanitized between each session. The water pressure is very low, as that of normal pressure for a healthy bowel movement.
6. How does a Colon Hydrotherapy treatment compare to enemas, laxatives, suppositories or oral colon cleanses?
An enema will only reach the rectum and lower part of the colon, whereas with colon hydrotherapy, the entire length of the colon (the large intestinal tract is approximately 5 to 5½ feet in length) is reached. Suppositories are intended to accomplish the same task. Additionally, most enemas and suppositories are stimulants, causing similar issues/reactions to that of laxatives. Laxatives and oral products are an irritant to the body causing the body to produce a thin, watery substance that goes through the colon leaving behind impacted waste on the colon walls.
All of these products can be harsh and irritating to the gastric lining. They can create uncontrollable urgency; “leaking” issues throughout the day; force waste through too quickly, which can create cramping; weaken the colon, making you dependent upon these products; and leave you weak and dehydrated. Alternatively Colon Hydrotherapy is a gentle, relaxing experience of warm, filtered water soothing and relaxing the colon as it tones the muscles and re-hydrates the body.
7. Is Colon Hydrotherapy habit forming?
No, Colon hydrotherapy is not a stimulant nor acts as one. It is a tool intended to be used to create a clean and healthy colon; it provides a toning effect on the colon and retrains the muscles, or the bowel, to regain strength.
8. If I stop Colon Hydrotherapy will my colon stop functioning on its own?
No. One of the many benefits of Colon Hydrotherapy is to strengthen the colon so it doesn't perform so sluggishly. Many individuals have sluggish/weak colons. If a bowel movement does not return for a few days after therapy, it is a good indication you have a weak colon and extensive work is needed to remove the debris that the bowel has built up over the years. This build up of “debris” has decreased the muscular action in the colon. Once a series of colonics has successfully cleansed the colon, your colon’s elimination function will begin to normalize.
Colon Hydrotherapy gives you a feeling of being lighter, cleaner and healthier. Cleansing and building programs offer preventative measures so that you can be in control of your own health. Dietary changes may be necessary to ensure long lasting and vital health.
9. Are the treatments uncomfortable?
No. A professional Colon Hydrotherapist is skilled at putting you at ease and minimizing discomfort. In fact many people report their colon hydrotherapy sessions as being both refreshing and relaxing. During your initial consultation your Colon Hydrotherapist will discuss the procedure, in detail, and inform you of typical sensations that may be felt.
For more information on what to expect during your visit please see “What to Expect During Your Visit”.
10. What if I feel embarrassed?
Your personal dignity is completely maintained and we pride ourselves on making your therapy a pleasant experience. Your Colon Hydrotherapist understands new patients may feel nervous or embarrassed and will explain the process during your initial consultation and answer any additional questions you may have.
For your session you will be placed in a private treatment room with only your therapist, who fully appreciates the sensitivity of the procedure and will help you feel at ease. Your emotions will be acknowledged and honored. You will also be provided with a gown and sheet so that you are completely covered during the entire session.
11. What should I do to prepare for my Colon Hydrotherapy session?
Refrain from eating in the 2 hours immediately preceding your session. It is also advised to avoid eating gas-forming foods, such as beans and cabbage, up to the day before your session. Drink plenty of water before and after to continue hydrating your body and flushing your system.
For more information on how to prepare for your Colon Hydrotherapy session, please see “Pre – Colonic Care Recommendations”.
12. Will I experience any intestinal discomfort or fatigue after the cleansing?
Generally an individual feels refreshed, lighter and enjoys a sense of well-being. As soon as your session is finished you can carry on with your daily routine; there won’t be any uncontrollable urgency, discomfort or “leaking”.
Some individuals may experience a slight delay in bowel movements after therapy and then a resumption of a somewhat larger, easier to move stool. If any discomfort occurs, it is recommended to rest and apply a warm heating pad to the abdomen. If you wish, a mild vegetable broth or peppermint tea is usually soothing at this time. Any discomfort will usually pass within 24 hours.

OTHER
1. Will I Lose Weight?
Yes. Besides the immediate waste loss, ridding the body of excess waste helps your body metabolize more efficiently. You will become more conscience of what foods you are putting into your body and how your body processes those foods. Many individuals improve their diet and exercise regime after beginning Colon Hydrotherapy.
2. Is there a special kind of water used for Colon Hydrotherapy?
The water will pass through our FDA registered equipment, providing three-stage filtration and purification units, before being heated to the correct temperature. This kind of water is capable of absorbing and flushing more toxins out of the colon because of its drawing effect on solid particles, chemicals and other matter.
3. Can I have a Colon Hydrotherapy session during my menstrual cycle?
Yes, in fact it's a good time to receive a treatment, since your body is already cleansing. Clients prefer to come in the first day of their cycle to hydrate and alleviate PMS symptoms. Your flow will not interfere with the success of the treatment.
4. Are Colon Hydrotherapy sessions covered by insurance?
Unfortunately colonics are not covered by medical insurance, unless prescribed by your physician, but we do accept some FLEX spending accounts.
It is also our policy to request your credit card information to secure your first appointment. We will not charge your card and you can pay with whatever means you wish at the time of your appointment. This is to secure your appointment time and in the event of a no-show 50% of the appointment amount will be charged to your card.
5. Will Colon Hydrotherapy help clear up my skin?
Your skin actually "breathes" and is an important organ for the elimination of waste material. Sometimes, if the colon, liver or kidneys are functioning poorly, the skin will be required to make up the difference. Surface eruptions on the skin of various sorts may occur due to toxins being released. Cleansing and healing the colon diminishes the burden placed upon the skin as well as the other organs of elimination. As elimination is accomplished through its proper channels, the skin will very often clear up.
